Hotels

The hotel selection on our website is only a fraction of all available accommodation. In principle, we can book any hotel in the destination area that you desire/that has been recommended to you by a third party.

Many places and cities in Mexico are aware of their appeal to an international, demanding public and are true strongholds of small (and fine) colonial hotels, haciendas or posadas (Oaxaca, Mérida, Guanajuato, Querétaro, etc.). Other cities are Unesco World Heritage Sites and yet have hardly any reasonable accommodation in any price category.
Those who can do without hotel comfort and can make do with a clean, though sometimes spartanly furnished room with private bathroom will find what they are looking for in category A). Regional price differences are distinct, especially the Riviera Maya (Caribbean coast of Yucatán), the Baja California and the Pacific coast of Jalisco are considered expensive, while hotel prices in Mexico City are significantly lower than in comparable metropolises. On each of our destination pages we present you – if available or acceptable – accommodations in the categories A) B) and C), with pictures and a short, objective description of the equipment and comfort.

Category A

With the exception of absolute high season times and special holidays, accommodation in this category costs up to USD 75 per double room per night, including taxes.
Rooms in this category have private bathroom, hot water, fan or air conditioning or heating unless otherwise stated. (Please refer to the respective hotel description for further details.)

Category B

With the exception of absolute high season times and special holidays, accommodation in this category costs up to 140 USD per double room per night, including taxes.
Rooms in this category have private bathroom, hot water, fan or air conditioning or heating unless otherwise stated. In addition, there is usually a restaurant, pool, other services such as spa and sauna. Jacuzzi etc. (Please refer to the respective hotel description for further details.)

Category C

Hotels and accommodation in this category cost from 140 USD per double room per night, including taxes.
The spectrum within this category ranges from good mid-range to international top hotels, exotic resorts and lodges. (Please refer to the respective hotel description for further details.)

Transportation

Bus

Mexico has a nationwide (with a few exceptions) first-class route network with comfortable coaches. Each larger city is served by several (private) bus companies, mostly there are first and second class bus stations. First class quality and comfort leave nothing to be desired. The prices are reasonable. The passengers have fixed seats. On longer, well-developed routes you can save time and money with night buses (compared to the airfare and the cost of an overnight stay, which is thus omitted). We take care of the reservation/booking of the required bus tickets.

Rental cars

In Mexico, all international car rental companies are represented as well as countless smaller, regional providers, who are often cheaper than the large companies. Prices vary by region and season. Certain regions of Mexico are best travelled by rental car. In addition to Yucatán, these include the southern part of Baja California, sections of the Mexican Pacific coast and areas in the Mexican interior such as the states of Michoacán, Guanajuato and Puebla. Road conditions are generally good. Away from the urban centers, the traffic volume is relatively low. We take care of the reservation/booking of your rental car.

Airplane

The national airlines maintain an extensive route network. In the meantime, there are also some so-called “low-cost airlines”, similar to those in Europe. Depending on the route and distance, it may be advisable to fly. Particularly recommendable flight routes are routes to and from Baja California, longer north-south routes through the interior, as well as connecting flights from the point of arrival or connecting flights to the point of return. We take care of the reservation/booking of the required flight tickets.

Train, ferries/boats and shuttles/taxis

There are a few railway lines, the most famous being the “Chepe”, which runs through the copper canyon (Barrancas del Cobre) in the north of the country.

Ferries run e.g. to Baja California Sur, to Cozumel or to Isla Mujeres.

Shuttles and taxis are usually organized by the hotels on request (airport transfer and similar).
