This Colombia trip, starting from the capital Bogotá, first takes you to the small colonial town of Popayán and to the archaeological highlights in the south of the country, San Agustín and Tierradentro. (both were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1995). After Medellín follows a “side trip” to one of the last “real” Caribbean islands, Providencia (possible also with overnight stay on San Andrés Island). After the “open-air museum” Cartagena and the remote colonial pearl Mompox, you will enjoy the Tayrona National Park before heading to the “most beautiful city in Colombia”, Barichara, to cool down.
