This trip “Classic Mexico on a budget” connects the capital with the fascinating colonial cities of Oaxaca and San Cristóbal de las Casas, the Mayan ruins of Palenque in the jungle of Chiapas and the highlights of the Yucatán Peninsula to a varied journey at a moderate pace, whith some days at the beach included.
Why did we call this tour “Classic Mexico on a budget”? During the first two weeks (until Mérida) you will travel with comfortable coaches. On the one hand this is inexpensive and on the other hand it offers you the opportunity to get in touch with the people and to get to know not only the tourist attractions but also the “normal life” of the Mexicans. Traveling by bus in Mexico is not an adventure, rather the opposite is true. You drive in air-conditioned coaches with toilet (the longer the distance, the more comfort, e.g. reclining seats for night rides) and at the well-organized and mostly modern terminals your luggage is checked in. In addition, these buses are usually on time (unlike Deutsche Bahn, for example).
Note: The beach days at the end of the trip you can spend alternatively to Isla Mujeres also in Tulúm or on Isla Holbox. Of course, the itinerary (and/or the choice of hotel) can be changed.
